Stephen met his regular writing partner the English dramatist, lyricist and screenwriter Shaun McKenna in 1989 after
he placed an ad in the The Stage looking for a lyricist to work with. They immediately started working on MADDIE
along with Steven Dexter who suggested the project. MADDIE opened at the Lyric Theatre, London in September 1997, produced by Kenny Wax.
Stephen and Shaun have now been collaborating for over twenty five years. As well as MADDIE they have written together a critically acclaimed musical version of HEIDI (Switzerland 2005-2006 and Germany 2006-2007 Anhaltisches Theater Production), LA CAVA (Victoria Palace Theatre and later the Piccadilly Theatre, London 2000-2001 co-composer and additional lyrics), JOHANNA AND HEIDI a musical sequel to their adaptation of HEIDI (Switzerland 2007-2008) and THE RETURN OF PETER PAN a musical sequel to Peter Pan commissioned in Germany.
